Draw between HSV and Bayern: A touch of being overwhelmed?

FC Bayern Munich also failed to beat HSV after the defeat against Augsburg. Sports director Eberl has various explanations.

Somehow things aren’t going quite as smoothly at Bayern as they would like there. After first defeat of the season against FC Augsburg Last weekend there was “only” a 2-2 draw against Almost bottom of the league HSV.

For the reigning German champions, this is of course almost like another defeat. They scored a measly four points in total in the last three games of the second half of the season. The reason? Overwhelm perhaps? In any case, a frustrated Bayern sports director Max Eberl spoke about this after the game in Hamburg.

But it wasn’t his team, but the referee who was a bit overwhelmed from his point of view, he explained. There were definitely one or two situations that referee Harm Osmers could have blown his whistle or punished more severely. Also against Bayern: For example, Harry Kane’s hard kick against HSV keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes in the third minute of the game should have been yellow. That’s what they were for. Much later, towards the end of the game, due to repeated complaining.

A tough month for FCB

Of course, the overwhelmed referee was no excuse or explanation for FCB’s performance, Eberl then rowed back straight away. Because: “We could have scored more goals and defended better.” This competent and clever analysis was then followed by his explanation as to why Bayern are currently a bit out of steam: “We have had a very, very tough month in which we have now played seven games in 20 days.”

Does that sound a little bit overwhelming? In any case, there are no more competitive games for FC Bayern Munich until next Sunday’s Bundesliga game against the currently very strong Hoffenheim team in third place in the league. So, according to Eberl, it’s time to “charge the batteries a bit again.”

Let’s hope that everyone will be a little less overwhelmed.
