Maame Akua Donkor is dead.Â
America Gist can confirm that Ghananian politician and presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party has passed away.

A source close to the politician disclosed to America Gist that the politician passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
Maame Akua Donkor was rushed the ridge hospital on Monday night after being ill and passed away few hours after she was admitted.

The actual cause of Akua Donkor’s death is yet to be published by the family.
Nevertheless, we are informed that the GFP leader suffered some underlining illness.
About Akua Donkor
Madam Akua Donkor was born in February 1952. She was from Afigya Kwabre District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Apart from being a politician, Akua Donkor is renowned cocoa farmer. She is has no formal education background which she has confessed on many occasions.
Political Journey
Before going into mainstream politics, Madam Akua Donkor was elected assembly woman for Herman.
In 2012, she aspired to contest for the presidential seat in Ghana as an independent candidate. With the turn of events, Akua Donkor’s application was disqualified by the EC citing that she does not meet the requirements for the elections.
Akua Donkor, despite not agreeing to the EC’s decision, she refused to seek legal redress instead, she rallied behind Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom’s of the Progressive People’s Party during the 2012 general elections.
In 2016, Akua Donkor and her Ghana Freedom Party was once again disqualified by the Electoral Commission from contesting in the general elections.
Her party office, located in Kabu in the Eastern Region was razed by fire on January 2016. Reacting to the incident, Donkor said the disaster was only a test and would not deter her from becoming the president of Ghana someday.
In 2024, Madam Donkor was cleared to contest for the general elections. She successfully filed her nomination to contest in the presidential elections and was placed number 3 on the ballot paper.
She then announced Mr Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi known on radio as Roman Fada as her running mate for the 2024 general election.
