Thursday is poetry day at the Truth: Today the interested readership can enjoy a poem about the birthday of an encyclopedia.
Wikipedia has been around for 25 years (1)
Before its time, Lexikon stood ten meters on the shelf. (2)
Putting it away, dusting it off, was always a hoopla. (3)
Nothing has updated there by itself. (4)
But Wiki wants to let us know, informs us with a click. (5)
But the addiction to reading from link to link can be quite painful, (6)
and a torrent of speech begins lightly on any subject. (7)
1 I checked the age – there, of course.
2 It was usually used once or twice a year.
3 comparisons: Meyer’s “A to Z” weighed a thousand kilograms.
4 In our Brockhaus we are still ruled by Kohl today.
5 Even the >-crumb has its own entry there (sic!).
6 Some people probably know this, for example me et al.

Together for a free press
As a cooperative, we belong to our readers. And our journalism is not only 100% non-corporate, but also accessible free of charge. We make all articles freely available, without a paywall. Especially in these times, classifications and information must be accessible to everyone. Our readers don’t have to pay anything, but they know that critical, independent journalism doesn’t emerge from nothing. We are very grateful for that. So that we can continue to do our journalism tomorrow, we need more support. Our next goal: 50,000 – and with your participation we can do it. Set an example for the taz and for the future of our journalism. With just 5 euros you are there!
