Trump and the Epstein scandal: breaking taboos does not harm the US president

U S-President Donald Trump has long wanted the Epstein issue to no longer be discussed. Evil tongues even claim that he did not even shy away from kidnapping a foreign head of state in order to distract from the discussion about what can be read in the files about the man who for years organized the supply of child prostitution to the male elite of the West.

But now the topic inevitably came back to the table, although on the streets of Minneapolis a brave population is still fighting against the fact that people from their midst are being arbitrarily kidnapped and even murdered by the state. After nearly a year of tug-of-war, Attorney General Pam Bondi released more than 3 million documents related to Epstein.

It took Trump less than three business days to declare the debate over what was being revealed over there. It’s time for the country to move on to something else, he announced at a press conference in the Oval Office. It is now clear that there is nothing incriminating about him in the files.

Of course, the discussion about the Epstein files is not just about Trump. And so the debate about what the Epstein case says about the world’s male power elites and the state of our societies will certainly not die down any time soon. And when it comes to Trump’s role, the last word has not yet been spoken.

Misogynistic? Trump’s supporters don’t care

The files actually do not seem to provide any solid evidence of Trump’s crimes. But they contain allegations that are certainly still being investigated. An informant claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Trump at an Epstein party when she was 13.

Another alleged victim was 16. A third said in an FBI interview that he was introduced to Trump by Ghislaine Maxwell. The Justice Department called these statements “sensationalistic.” The FBI admitted that it had not reached or even called some of the informants.

Trump still appeared extremely calm as he tried to declare the Epstein debate over. Because he doesn’t need to be afraid of criminal or political consequences. It is unlikely that his Justice Department will pursue the matter further.

Election victory despite rape charges

It is equally unlikely that his voter base will turn away from him because of his likely involvement in the Epstein scandal. The MAGA movement has not cared about Trump’s blatant misogyny and will not do so now.

Adolescent rebellion against liberal values: the more blatant the taboo breach, the more pleasure it gives the MAGA movement

How Trump views women has been known at least since the infamous “Hollywood Access” recording in which he bragged that he could easily grope her with impunity. It has been known since then that he was the prostitute Stormy Daniels hush money has paid. He won the 2024 election despite the rape lawsuit E. Jean Carroll won. In addition, his connections to Epstein are well known.

So far, all of this hasn’t done him any harm with his followers. It even helped him. Misogyny, wrote that New York Magazine, is, in a sense, part of his brand. Even the fact that they were children doesn’t make the case any worse in the eyes of his fans. “Women and girls are things, and he has the right to collect them.”

Society is being rehierarchized

Child abuse is the same as Trump’s other taboo violations. They are popular among his followers because they rebel against bourgeois, liberal norms in an adolescent way. And the more blatant the taboo break, the more pleasure it creates.

The fact that the breaking of taboos in the case of the Epstein scandal with the abuse of minors has a clearly sadistic component is also part of the brand. In the neo-fascist MAGA world, all liberal equalization and inclusion efforts are thrown out the window.

Society is being rehierarchized – again with the joy of adolescents. Anyone who is not white and male is less than human and should be treated as such. This applies to the young women who worked for Epstein, as well as to immigrants being chased through the streets of American cities by ICE.

Of course, the attitude is not limited to Trump or MAGA. The Epstein scandal shows this clearly. The new acceptance of contempt for humanity by the winning caste of neoliberalism knows no party barriers. Trump is just the most exposed example of a shocking social change.
