Mike Jeffries is an American business mogul who was the chairman and CEO of the Abercrombie clothing retailer and Fitch from 1992 to 2014.
At Abercrombie & Fitch, he lost $25 million annually to a lifestyle brand grossing $2 million yearly by 2006 and eventually reduced the clothing retailer company to a mere ‘fashion backwater”.
He introduced controversial advertising strategies by involving semi-nude models, racially and sexually insensitive slogans, and the stance of marketing to “cool kids”.

The former Abercrombie CEO, Mike Jeffries started his career journey as the executive vice president for merchandising at the Bullock in Los Angeles.
Before then, he joined the management training program in 1968 at Abraham & Straus now, Macy, a Brooklyn department store formerly owned by the umbrella corporation Federated Department Stores but now legally acquired by Federated.
Mike also worked for three years at Federated headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.
As a young CEO, Mike established his own business, Alcott & Andrews which targeted career women in 1984. Unfortunately, his business was closed down on a report that it offered “too little variety in its merchandise” since it run bankrupt.
After his business was closed down on a note of bankruptcy, he worked in merchandising at Paul Harris, a Midwest clothing chain that also went bankrupt in 1991.
However, HE regained traction in the merchandize and clothing business when he assumed the Chairman and CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch in 1992.
Jeffries remained in his post until 2014. During his time as CEO for Abercrombie & Fitch, Jeffries changed the company’s brand, image, and focus. He pushed the company into deep controversy which by means chocked the company’s greatest success during the 1990s and early 2000.
He stepped down as the CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch after the financial crisis of 2007-2008. His enacted brand for the company also faced sequence of hard criticism resulting in a poor financial results.

Jeffries married his first wife Susan Hansen in 1971. The ceremony happened at the home of Susan’s parents in Biscayne Bay Florida.
Susan Hansen’s parents were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Hansen. Mr. Charles, Susan’s father was the founder and president of Charles Hansen Music Publishing. His company mastered the production of sheet music and published educational and popular books on music and art.
