5 Great Things / June 2026

Welcome to June’s 5GT. The summer mood is really starting to come together over here. Next week, a deep dive into the swim mood that has overtaken our algorithm and how to participate…the kiddie pool version at least. In the meantime, some easy things that I have been wearing on repeat that feel stylish, comfortable, seasonally appropriate and require zero thought to put on. As always, paid subscribers get a 24 hour head start on these recs. Enjoy!

Move over easy pants. Enter the easy skirt.

As I sit here writing this, at home, snacking, in a beat up old t-shirt, you might think I am lounging in one of my two pair of summer weight lounge pants. BUT YOU’D BE WRONG. I’m actually sitting in this silk-ish skirt with a floral pattern that reminds me of my mom in the early 90s. It’s so comfortable. Most days, I keep it draped over my desk chair to throw on to take my son to his bus stop, and then pleasantly continue about my day, no one the wiser that I’m basically still in my PJs. I wore it to a fitting for a (very exciting, stay tuned in sept!!) shoot that I had to robe and derobe numerous times last week. I put it on with a baby tee when I want to feel cute and a graphic tee when I want to consider myself just a little hip. I almost didn’t want to share her here because now we’re all going to be walking around in the exact same print on our daily errands, but it was just too much of a happy-morning-maker for me to keep to myself. (I can’t wait to see you in it too💓)

Was on the phone with my BFF during this photo laughing about the chaos of summer travel with kids (and husbands really 😬) can you tell? The skirt of the hour (I’m wearing a small) with a Stussy t-shirt and ridiculous flip flops.

I’m mostly wearing this skirt with a weird t-shirt. It’s just the perfect fodder for one. The colors somehow match/don’t match everything!

If I want to feel cute, I switch it out for a baby T. I’m really deep into the Cou Cou intimates vortex lately. Also just got the pj pants for summer and when they touch my skin I melt. Delicious.

When I want to look more like a grown up (boring!!) I swap out a tee for a khaki button down (welcome back to khaki button down season everyone!!!!!!)

And I found another way to use my scarves!! Sure we all know about wrapping the twilly around your handle. But have you ever thought about tying the corners of your scarf to your mesh or straw or in this case laser-cut leather shopper and lining your bag with it? It’s extremely summer. This cutie little bag is from Ferragamo. Scarf is vintage and if you may recall, was a top last week.

ENORMOUS white jean shorts

When I’m not in the skirt above, you can be 90% certain I’m in huge white denim cargo shorts below. They are jean shorts. But with an extreme style personality. Yet somehow not even remotely hard to wear? Just wear as you would a regular jort. But beyond better – no hiking up. No bare hamstrings on the park bench. Or hot leather. Or worse…subway seat.

How I wear them the most most most. With a navy shrunken t-shirt (soon to swap for today’s #5!!), a fun belt – this is an old mango but this or this! And a sandal of choice. And yes these are the Row “reefs” 🫣 and yes they are beyond flat. And yes the look is so good I am suffering through. 😆

They toughen up our doily tops. So much cooler than with a blue jean short short, no?? Add flip flop of choice (these are Jamie Haller) and a straw tote and you are summer ready without actually having to show off any skin. LOL.

For date night!!! Idea stollen from Friend of 5 Things Lily S who wore her Phoebe white jean culottes in Paris with an equally frilly, even more cropped animal print blouse in Paris last week. The little bit of skin showing on top balances out the daintiness of the mules. This, this or this. oooo or this! could work perfectly (mine is old Bode.) And did you get your bright summer clutch yet?

Mine are Phoebe Philo. But this is not a trend limited to her highness. It’s actually a shockingly easy one to participate in – you just have to size up.

An edit of similar options which are all perfect in their own ways – which one speaks to you? From far left: Levi’s wins for the color match (Also have you seen their World Cup branding…it’s beyond brilliant.) But size up at least two sizes in these for the big, slouchy look. At LEAST. I love the shape of the Cos pleat front pair – they win for most flattering yet interesting shape. Kallmeyer for best legnth (size up). Still Here for the sporty / surfer vibe – I’d size up one size here but not two because they are so low slung. Next, Drake’s wins for closest fabric to Phoebe Philo. These are mens, so size up two sizes from your regular for the right fit – and cinch with a belt. So cute. And finally, if you want a more tailored look, the Ossou at the far right are beautiful – as beautiful as you could consider a white jean short??

How I’m wearing these to mom. On repeat. Kule tee (I’m in a medium) with my jorts and Vans and Thistles

How I’m wearing these to be a person during the day, while not momming. Girlish tank (this one is a vintage Prada but this is great from The Great. And we have this whole newsletter full too), cute sandals and a pouch. Best black bra for wearing under sheer things that I’ve found lately is this by Else (it’s worth getting on the waitlist.)

I DIY-ed Prada Spring 26

Guys. I really want this Prada polo cut down the front. At a dinner a month ago Friend of 5 Things Jorden B was wearing it and brought it to life. All of a sudden, it went from something silly in theory to something special and unique and absurdly wearable – all the things we love about wearing Prada IRL. But it’s still sitting in my cart. IDK why I can’t pull the trigger. I still might (though I’m already saving up for the FW26 finale dress) but in the meantime, I thought I’d see if an experiment could scratch the itch. And honestly…it did!!! 😁

Uniqlo polo cut down the front. Over a cotton bralette. Could also do this with a silk cami or swimsuit. And black drawstring pants. Insert cheapy flip flop (see below)

I took myself down to Uniqlo, picked out a pique polo from the men’s dept (size small) and took my fabric scissors to the front of it, snipping halfway down. Then I washed it to make the edges curl and VOILA! Do what you will with this info. But I’m wearing mine out to lunch. And as a swim cover up. I love it!

A detail of my Uniqlo polo cut down the front. You have to seam rip the bottom stitches of the placket and then diagonally cut away from the edge of the inner placket up to the button or you’ll be left with a little flap. Then slice down to where you want it to sit open. Use a fabric scissors! Which is just a scissors that you will under NO CIRCUMSTANCES use on paper. Keep them in your underwear drawer so no one can cut out an art project or open mail with them…”just this once”.

Surfer Flip Flops

I wanted the Phoebe Philo flip flops. Bought these from Stussy instead. Which opened a floodgate. Because then I bought these neon pink Havaianas. And considered the rainbow foam flippers from LL Bean. Which brought me into a nostalgia-induced rabbit hole on the Rainbow website. Then I found these from Gap – which I would have bought but my red/black Row flips are still in good shape. I could keep going.

The point is, designers are all trying to get in on the relaxed beachgoer attitude of Brazil (Havaianas) and California (Rainbow, Stussy, et al.) So why not go to the source!? Happy feet. Happy summer.

Clockwise from top left: Havaianas. I procured this great color on PacSun. Weirdly Havaianas are incredibly annoying to buy – with random colors on random sites and always sold out. So when you see a color you like…even if it’s from “Pete’s Windsurfing Shop in Oregon” just do it and pay the shipping. You’re welcome. Ok moving on. Gap green are womens, the chalk are mens – size yourself accordingly. Stussy which are squishier than I thought they’d be. Comfy! The L.L.Bean rainbows were tempting and then there were the Rainbows with a fish pattern that I really wanted but are sold out in my size (maybe for the best at this point) and finally, Rainbows with a blue nylon strap which just feel right.

We Need To Talk About Toteme Prefall….

This note will run counter to the freaky, put it all on, all at once, summer vibes that we are addressing next week but I saw this collection drop this week online and I had a physical reaction to it. I’ve stared at it for longer than I’d care to admit.

Is the best way to look incredible in summertime to slick your wet hair back, put on a crisp clean black shirt, flattering bottom of choice, a crazy cool pair of sunglasses and go about your day? I want to be her in a professional setting, in a parenting setting and a “what do I wear to the family obligation sort of setting.” Just wow. I started with the T-shirt. It is en route – I took a size XS because I want this to fit close to the body.

My dream tee, already on the way before you all got to it 😈. How great will she be with my white shorts?! That middle shot is a look I would like to embrace as my professional alter-ego until October.

Are these not the most epic wedding outfits? I could honestly see either one going from a beach in greece with strappy sandals to the Pierre with diamonds and a metallic heel. WOW. How are they inside my brain? Evening. Without being so….EVENING. The perfect “is it new or is it vintage” purple dress, tunic and trousers.

That’s all from me this week folks. See you back here next for an attempt to dissect swim and what it all means in this skin-is-in, GLP-1 economy.

Yours TRULY,

Becky
