Quote: “But the court made it clear: Volz’s success only relates to his secondary employment, the verdict is a case-by-case decision. This means that clinics can continue to dictate to their employees whether they offer abortions or not. The basis for this is entrepreneurial freedom. As a result, this means: the entrepreneurial freedom of clinics is better protected in Germany than basic health services for pregnant women. That’s crazy.”
Courts are the wrong contacts for questions about ensuring inpatient care for the population (hospital planning). This is a matter for the state health ministries.
It’s crazy when the clinics are all privatized and the states can no longer enforce guidelines, don’t want to, or don’t even do so out of a hasty relinquishment of power.
