Around 2,300 Afghans are waiting for a visa with a confirmation from the German government. Now half of them shouldn’t be allowed to come.
Black and Red have withdrawn this promise from almost half of the 2,308 at-risk Afghans who had been accepted by the traffic light government and were still in Pakistan when the government changed in May. The federal government provided this information at the request of Left-wing Bundestag member Clara Bünger. As a result, 788 of them were able to enter Germany after further verification. A further 410 – 360 from the federal admission program (BAP) and 50 from the local staff procedure (OKV) – are still in the exit process. Originally, everyone was invited to the German embassy in Islamabad to receive visas.
On the one hand, this means that Berlin ultimately refused entry to 1,110 of these people. This could also affect some of the remaining 410. On the other hand, the federal government no longer talks about those 79 Afghans at all which deported Pakistan to Afghanistan in August despite German acceptance. They have been living there in one ever since German guesthouse, but under permanent Taliban control. It is unclear whether their acceptance letter was also withdrawn. Other Afghans who were deported at the time apparently left the accommodation and went into hiding since the summer out of fear. “For five months now, the federal government has not taken any measures to bring these people back to Pakistan,” criticizes the Kabul Airlift organization, which supports Afghans at risk.
250 lawsuits pending
BAP and OKV are the only Afghanistan programs that the federal government is still processing. Berlin informed remaining Afghans from two other programs – the human rights list and the BAP predecessor transition program – that there was now “no longer any political interest” in their admission. However, over 250 lawsuits from all four programs are still pending in German courts.
Left-wing MP Clara Bünger called the government’s actions irresponsible, shabby and humanly unbearable
Bünger called the government’s actions “irresponsible, shabby and humanly intolerable.” There were security concerns in only three percent of the checked admission requests, says Bünger. The Greens Marcel Emmerich and Schahina Gambir spoke of a “scandal” and called on Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) to “immediately” evacuate all holders of admission commitments.
According to the Kabul Airlift, the Taliban questioned the residents of the guesthouse in Kabul for the first time during a raid on Monday and recorded their data. Employees were arrested but were quickly released, it was said. Evil threatens everyonethey should completely lose the protection of the guesthouse and fall completely into the hands of the regime.
