US President Donald Trump will give a highly anticipated speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday. But before that, on the anniversary of his second inauguration, the 79-year-old presented the assembled press with a medley of his supposedly greatest successes of the past twelve months. “I think God is very proud of my work,” Trump said.

He praised his government’s work for almost two hours on Tuesday. His usual criticism of his predecessor, Democrat Joe Biden, was also not missing. Trump also couldn’t resist making a comment about the alleged election fraud in 2020.

Trump devoted the first quarter of an hour to the situation in the state of Minnesota, where there have been daily confrontations between demonstrators and representatives of the federal authorities for almost two weeks. Trump presented photos of alleged criminals who were arrested by the immigration agency ICE in raids in the US state of Minnesota. “When I look at these allegations, it’s simply unbelievable. Many murderers. Very, very many murderers,” he said. trigger for the Protests in the state capital Minneapolis was the shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer.

Then it was about the US economy. According to Trump, he would have curbed inflation, helped the stock market to records and lowered fuel prices. “We took over a country that was in decline and now it is the hottest country in the world, after just one year,” the US president said.

Tariffs and the Nobel Peace Prize

The US government laid off more than 270,000 civil servants under Trump 2.0. Funding programs were discontinued and over 100 bureaucratic regulations were eliminated. Those too Customs policy couldn’t be missed. This earned the US government billions of dollars, but also alienated many allies.

Despite the president’s preference for tariffs, the Supreme Court is expected to rule soon on their legality. “If we lose this case, there is a risk that we will have to pay back the tariff revenue. I don’t know how that can be done without great difficulty (…),” said Trump.

He was bitter about the Nobel Peace Prize; after all, as he himself claimed, he had ended eight wars. But it provided little new information on the most important geopolitical hotspots. Whether he is in Case Greenland whether it continues to consider a military option is unclear. “You’ll find out,” was all the Republican said.

But at least he confirmed that the largely autonomous region of the Kingdom of Denmark will be part of his talks in Davos. In the Swiss town, his speech will primarily revolve around economic topics.

On the way there, however, the presidential plane was forced to turn back due to a defect. Trump later took off again for Switzerland on a replacement plane.
