Nathan Jones has explained why Charlton Athletic will not be making a striker signing in the summer transfer window.
The Addicks have completed eight deals since the end of last season and are hoping that Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi makes it nine.
Negotiations were at an advanced stage for the 23-year-old winger yesterday.
But so far one the frontline is one area that has not seen any incomings.
Veteran striker Matty Godden missed Saturday’s 2-1 victory over West Ham with a hamstring injury. Miles Leaburn led the line in his absence and performed strongly before making way in the closing stages for Micah Mbick, another academy product.
And Jones feels that bringing in another frontman would risk stunting the development of those players already on the club’s books.
