Stalled building renovation: expensive cold spell for poor people

One cannot ignore the technical and economic realities.

Residential heating systems “only” account for around 10% of all German greenhouse gas emissions.
That’s no reason not to do anything here.

You just have to keep in mind that when it comes to energy-saving renovations and a “heating technology transition”, we are talking about EXTREMELY a lot of money that is needed for this.

There are around 40 million apartments in around 20 million residential buildings in Germany.

The “heating technology transition” alone (heat pumps, etc.) would cost 500 billion euros if one assumes around 25 thousand euros per building.

A complete energy renovation is still significantly expensive for all buildings, almost 1 trillion euros.

Anyone who thinks realistically and considers that the basic need for housing is becoming “more expensive” should advocate not using the “crowbar” here.

Today we already have around 1 million homeless people, a lack of affordable housing and an explosion in rent prices.

In terms of social policy, it is forbidden to make housing and heating expensive over and over again.
–> For single-digit percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
