Violent incident: Bavarian mayor reveals details – that’s what his ex says

Michael Adam is known far beyond his hometown of Bodenmais. In 2008 he became the youngest mayor in Germany – at the age of 23. At that time, the SPD politician said: “I am everything that you are not allowed to be in Bodenmais – young, evangelical and openly gay.”

A lot has happened in the meantime. He was Regen’s district administrator (including the sex scandal), turned his back on local politics and has been back as mayor of Bodenmais since 2023.

On Tuesday he posted on Facebook a message. It stood out not only because it was unusually long, but also because he shared a photo of an obviously beaten man. It is his ex-partner.

It’s about an incident in February 2025

The text describes in detail what is said to have happened in February 2025, almost a year ago, from Adam’s perspective in a café in Bodenmais. What you quickly notice is that the two of them are no longer indifferent and their versions differ significantly.

In summary, Adam’s point of view: There was a chance meeting in the café on February 12, 2025 – the day of a temporary separation. A Czech acquaintance of the landlady is said to have attacked Jannik M. and hit him.

Then Adam shocks with this statement: “Should I be honest? I enjoyed it. Finally someone got what he had deserved for a long time. I only intervened when he wouldn’t let go of him anymore. I thought he was going to kill him.”

Photo of the beaten face released

The ex is said to have gotten up again after the beating and choked Adam. “Afterwards he sent me an email with the picture here.”

He published the photo of the bruised and swollen face as well as the ex’s email address. Adam concludes with the words: “I am aware that this posting will do me serious political damage. But honesty is more important to me than political showmanship.”

“The truth is that he struck”: That’s what the ex says

Jannik M. (24) can be seen in the picture. The AZ reached out to him and he said about the posting: “This is very hurtful. A photo of me was published without my consent, along with my email address.”

Regarding the statements made in connection with the picture, he says: “That’s his version of the truth, but it’s not true. I didn’t blackmail him or anything else.”

About the beating in the café in February 2025, M says: “He is not the main perpetrator, but the Czech. But he (Adam; editor) confirmed to me on WhatsApp that he also struck himself.” Corresponding documents are available to the AZ.

M goes on to say: He received a total of 17 blows, but according to his own statement, he couldn’t exactly identify who in this situation. But he said on Tuesday: “The truth is that he struck.” And: “I’m tired of lying for him.”

Background of the photo: “I was so frustrated”

Why did he send him the photo of his injured face back then? “Out of frustration. I was so frustrated that he left me helpless and didn’t even contact me after he promised me a lot of love several times.”

The two-year relationship, which began on a dating app, is now finally over. “We have been separated since December 13, 2025.” M. says: “I suspect he made the post public under the influence of alcohol.”

From his point of view, Adam is a good mayor, can do a lot, and he also loved him very much, but he says: “Michael has two sides to him. He can be a very nice, nice person, but he can also be a very dangerous person.”

“He serves as a role model”

Jannik M. comes from Brandenburg and is no longer in Bodenmais. He is currently “very mentally ill”. That also has to do with the posting: “Everyone sees my destroyed face. That totally breaks my privacy, that’s brutal. And that comes from a public figure. He has a role model function, but at the moment he’s not a role model.”

Adam did not respond to an AZ query by press time. The press office of the Regen District Office announced on Tuesday that the factual and legal situation was being examined and the legal assessment of this case had been transferred to the Bavarian State Attorney’s Office.

That’s what the public prosecutor says

The Deggendorf public prosecutor’s office, in turn, said upon request: “The Facebook post in question, which was sent to the public prosecutor’s office by the police has been transmitted will be checked for criminal relevance. Due to the official investigation principle applicable to law enforcement authorities, a formal report is not important.”

It was announced in August that the Deggendorf public prosecutor had brought charges against Adam. Specifically, this concerns suspicion of simple bodily harm. The presumption of innocence applies.
